Widget In or Widget Out

Some have noticed the Top Commentators widget has been acting like an angry Arminian. It seems to change it's mind with the weather. I have loaded and reloaded it and always get - "Bad Request Error 400" each and every time. Blame it on my kerosene-powered computer, my ignorance of protocol, or blame it on the fact that I am living in Kuwait.

(There are more restrictions here than in the States)

Whatever the reason, this fidgety widget can be a little frustrating to those who pay attention to it. For that I apologize and thought I would put it to a vote.

If you can accept a fallen widget in a fallen world vote YES.

If you want this widget to be banished to the Isle of Patmos vote NO.

I would love some feedback and/or suggestions.

Explanation of Top Commentator Thingy

In a recent post, Truthinator, had this to say:

Eddie...About that comment counter thingy dingy, it doesn't work. I haven't commented in a while and I notice I have fallen from 95 to 75...Maybe my comments are so bad they carry a negative value? That is a real possibility...

Carry on, and here is my check for $7,000.

My answer:

Until I can find a better widgety do-dad, I am stuck with this one. It is based on ONLY the last 500 comments. At the present, I have OVER 6,000 comments on my Calvinistic Cartoons blog, so each new comment from anyone causes changes in the individual totals. If the widget were based on my comment TOTAL it would be a lot better for everyone involved...but, alack and alas my friend, I haven't found one that does that. Just keep in mind that these are the comments poll of the last 500. If anyone knows of a better McWidget, let me know. I thank thee all, brethren and sistern, I thank thee all.

Is The Widget Working?

I have doubts that my newest widget is working properly. Numbers of comments have seemed to decrease from certain individuals lately. I may need to reload it or replace it with another widget from another source. So please let me know if you detect any discrepancies in its functioning. Thanks, amigos.

When Widgets Go Bad

Honestly, I don't know if it's just my computer or not. In Kuwait, the building I live in has poor reception and my 'puter usually is slow go when it comes to downloading or uploading or freeloading for that matter.

I am turning to you who have years of experience in blogging, clogging or logging.

Not too long ago I added a widget for "recent comments". For the last week I am not showing anything under that heading. I need to know if everyone else is seeing the "recent comments" at the top right of my blog or not.

If no one else is seeing that displayed, then I need to know how to fix it.

I have tried in vain to restore it to it's former glory to no avail. But, things are a little strange here in Kuwait. My sitemeter banner doesn't show up here...but, when I was in the states a few weeks back, it was there!

So if anyone has had a similar problem with gadgets, widgets or wookies, please let me know. I think it helps when you can see the most recent comments made.
