Sons of Isaiah Glory

Here is the first page of a story from the Christian comic book, Aida-Zee. It was an honor for me to ink Dick Ayers, who is an American comic book artist and cartoonist best known for his work as one of Jack Kirby's inkers during the late-1950s and 1960s period known as the Silver Age of Comics, including on some of the earliest issues of Marvel Comics' The Fantastic Four, and as the signature penciler of Marvel's World War II comic Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos.

This is Woodrow Tangneedle. He is one of the staff artists at Calvinistic Cartoons. In this photo you can see Woodrow working on the art for the joke just below this one. No joke! He is one of the finest Christians you will ever meet. When he approached me and humbly said I should not muzzle the ox when he is treading grain, I took his muzzle off. (joke) Actually, he works for $7,000 a day. I think he is worth it.

Here is the cover of a Christian comic book I worked on many moons ago. It was the brain-child of Nate Butler who worked on Archie comics for years. I was honored to ink Dick Ayers pencils on "The Sons of Isaiah Glory". He was best known for his inks on Jack Kirby's work at Marvel and for his pencils on Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos." ...just thought you might find it of interest. No penguins were harmed in the printing of this full-color comic.

The Journal of Cotton Adams #2

June 15th, 1737

Taught in the home of local artist, Wooster Plodmullet this evening. Following the lesson, Mr. Plodmullet unveiled his recently completed masterpiece, still mounted on an easel. It appeared to be an untouched piece of canvas.

"How do you like it?" Wooster proudly asked me.

"Fine...but, what is it?"

"It represents the passage of the children of Israel through the Red Sea!"

"But...where is the Red Sea?" I asked.

"It has been driven back - as related in the book of Exodus, chapter 14 verses 21 and 22."

"And where are the Israelites?"

"They have crossed over."

"What about the pursuing Egyptians? Where are they?"

"They haven't yet arrived."

I began to realize his mind was as blank as the canvas I was viewing.
