Corky Stops by TWSJ
Corky came by the humble headquarters of The Word Street Journal today to pay Paul Latour and his lovely wife, Kim a visit. One of the staff told Corky he could find them downtown witnessing on the street. After a few minutes, Corky found them and spent the rest of the day spreading the Good News.
Paul and Kim treated Corky to a marvelous dinner at Denny's afterwards, and then took him for a tour of their office. Great fellowship and great encouragement!

Leave Your Tracts Behind
Here is the front page and opening pages of another tract I did several years ago that is still available from Good News Publishers:
I get no royalties from this - I was paid outright for my work.
This is for evangelism purposes. Please keep plenty of tracts on hand, in the car, by the door of your home, in your wallet or purse, in your Bible, or use as bookmarks in some other book. Planting these seeds of Truth can be rewarding in more ways than one. Take some time and plant some tracts at the public library. Find a row of books (maybe pick a certain subject that could use some tracts, like teen fiction or witchcraft) place a stack of tracts on a shelf, then open each book on your row and stick a tract inside. It's that easy!
Anyone have more ideas for sowing some gospel seeds? ...or what to say when giving a tract to someone?

Joe Tract
Here is a tract I did for Good News publishers years ago. It is still selling well. One note to all my Calvinist friends - this is not the original ending. I had an Arminian friend who worked at American Tract Society edit it. It wasn't my decision. When he was at ATS we had a few head butting conversations about my Calvinistic beliefs. We are still friends - but he removed all my "Calvinism" from the written text. I no longer have the original wording but, his use of "oft" is a little ancient in my opinion. I kidded him about it at the Christian Booksellers convention while he was talking to John Piper's son. Anyway, that's some background so you know I haven't turned into an Arminian.

Old Baptist Magazine
Someone out there may have this issue. One of the featured articles is entitled, "The No's Job" by Harley Noya. It explains how to turn "no's" into "yes's" before they realize what happened. Another article, "Folding Tracts into Airplanes", tells how you can sail a tract right into the dinner plate of an unsuspecting target for the Gospel. "How to Cast Pearls Before Swine", reminds us that we should witness to everyone, no matter what their attitude or the situation. It's pure Arminian Baptist at it's best!

Got Tracts?
Someday you may run into one of these kooky cult members. Share the Gospel! If someone tells you that you are hooked on Jesus or that you are a Bible addict. If they say you are strung out on God or that you are too dependent on Sovereign Grace.
Show them your tracts!

The Greatest Evangelism Tool
This bit of sound advice comes from calmcoolandelected from Grace Forums. She said her pastor twittered this message:
"The greatest evangelism tool that you will ever have is your dining room table...so use it!"

Customized Gospels of John
The above Gospel of John magazine is real and targeted at a specific demographic. What if some organization decided to publish and promote very specialized Gospels for very particular groups? Here are a few I came up with:
The Gospel of John for people of have some kind of heat rash.
The Gospel of John for those people who are lactate intolerant.
The Gospel of John for people with sinus problems.
The Gospel of John for people who dislike Home Owners Associations.
The Gospel of John for people whose stomach is starting to make noise.
The Gospel of John for those who were granted a stay of execution.
The Gospel of John for those who have an E string missing on their guitar.
The Gospel of John for those with two lug nuts missing on their front right tire.
The Gospel of John for who are lingering near the monkey cage at the zoo.
The Gospel of John for people with ugly pets.
The Gospel of John for people who used to be meteorologists.
The Gospel of John for people who failed to yield the right of way.
...for people who mow their grass way too early in the morning.
...for people who look like Moe of the Three Stooges.
...for those who have tattoos of vegetables on their ankles.
...for people who are late this month paying their electric bill.
...for people who have sneezed on a Betty Boop snow globe.
See if your brain can think of some other people or groups I might have passed over.
btw...I plan on creating some Photoshop versions of these (yours included) in future posts. So the more I have to choose from the better. (...and, of course, full credit for the idea will go to the author of the customized Gospels.)

Coffee House #3

The concept is a simple one. I take my recorder into a coffee house somewhere on the planet and secretly tape conversations. Then I decide which is the most interesting and edit it to fit by blog. These are candid moments from the mouths of unsuspecting strangers all over the globe. This is my third attempt and I traveled to Lottida, Kansas. The coffee house is called "The Coffee Spot". I will again be very careful to refer to each person generically to maintain their anonymity.
M1: Doyle! Doyle Rankins! Thanks for coming, brother. I've already ordered us both a cup of coffee.
M2: Thanks Pete! Haven't seen you in a year or so.
M1: Yeah...been kind of busy. That's one reason for our little get together. I'm starting a "celebrity only" ministry, and I'm hoping you will help support my "mission to the stars!" Just think how fantastic it would be if Angela Jolie accepted Christ! Why, thousands would consider following in her footsteps!...or Hugh Jackman...or Adam Sandler! His testimony would make headlines all over the media! He could reach millions with his own brand of witty witness!
M2: Do you really think God wants you to step over everyone else just to reach celebrities with the Gospel?
M1: Sure! Why not? Start at the top!
M2: That would make you sort of a "paparazzi preacher" wouldn't it?
M1: Yeah, never thought of it that way...but, I'd be tracking stars for Jesus! I like that! Thanks..."Pete Palombi, Paparazzi Preacher"...that has a nice ring to it!
M2: I don't think that is a Biblical way to approach evangelism...
M1: Well, I've already got six churches backing me on the idea! I've got my ticket to Hollywood, a new set of luggage and a backpack full of Chick tracts. My map of the stars homes is also my prayer list.
M2: Well, I can't give money to support something as idiotic as this!
M1: I'm giving to anyone who donates ten dollars or more, a picture of Gary Busey reading his Bible while hanging from the "W" on the Hollywood sign!
M2: Well...okay...I guess I can afford ten bucks. How much to get him to autograph it?

The Bankruptcy of Atheism

Jack: Hey Ben, heard you got religion!
Ben: Well, not really...Jesus saved me and gave me a new life.
Jack: You gotta be kidding, man! There is no God!
Ben: Could I ask you a question?
Jack: Sure, go ahead.
Ben: Do you happen to know everything?
Jack: No dude, and neither do you!
Ben: You're right. But, what percent of TOTAL knowledge do you possess? Ten percent?
Jack: C'mon, man...no one has that much. I just read where scientists believe that we are on the fringe of knowledge. So, I know, like a small percentage of a portion of less than one percent!
Ben: Okay, let's just say you know ONE percent of EVERYTHING there is to know in the universe.
Jack: All right...for arguments sake...
Ben: Well, is it possible that God could exist outside your one percent of total knowledge?
Jack: Yes, theoretically, yes...
Ben: You're a most remarkable atheist then. Two minutes ago, you stated that there was no God, and now you say that it is possible there is one. Why don't you make up your mind?
(two days pass and Jack and Ben meet again - this time Jack has a friend with him)
Jack: Hey Ben, been thinking about our conversation. I think I used the wrong term. I'm not really an atheist. I'm an agnostic!Ben: Congratulations!
Jack: You like that?
Ben: Yes, that's a lot better. You're in a stronger position because you are telling the truth - you just don't know! By the way, what kind of agnostic are you?
Jack: Are there different kinds of agnostics?
Ben: Yes, among agnostics there are two main denominations, the ordinary agnostic and the ornery agnostic.
Jack: What do you mean by that crack?
Ben: The ordinary agnostic claims, "I don't know there is a God or not!" but the ornery one says, "I don't know, you don't know, nobody knows, and nobody will ever know!" If you say you know that I don't know then I will ask you how you know that I don't know!
Jack: Look man, I quit right there! I'm just a plain, ordinary agnostic. Julian Huxley was a brilliant scholar, and he was an agnostic!
Ben: Granted, Huxley was a brilliant expert in his field, in biology. But, how could any man be brilliant in agnosticism, which means "not knowing"... I just took a course in hermeneutics. Do you know what hermeneutics is? No? Does your friend know what hermeneutics is? No? Neither of you know? Then which of the two of you is more brilliant in not knowing hermeneutics?
Jack: Man, I gotta go. We'll talk more later.
Ben: Sure, later on.
