Secular Saturday Sing-a-long
Lyrics:
There's nothing else I'd rather do
Than to sit around and talk to you
And reminice about a simpler time
The music that we made
Was simple but it stayed
In my memory and
On my mind
Dancin' on daddy's shoes
Dancin' all around the room
Rollin' the rug up
kickin' our heels up
Dancin' away the blues
Sister would clap along
Everyone would sing a song
Playin' homemade music
dancin' on daddy's shoes
There's something bout this musty room
That makes me reel and it
Makes me swoon
That strange perfume is one of a kind
The rhythm takes me back
When I hear that rap-pa-tap
There's no nicer feeling that I can find
Dancin' on daddy's shoes
Memories you'll never loose
Dancin' away the blues
Sentimental memories
Dancin' on daddy' shoes
Dancin' on daddy' shoes
Dancin' on daddy's shoes
Dancin' all around the room
Rollin' the rug up
kickin' our heels up
Dancin' away the blues
Sister would clap along
Everyone would sing a song
Playin' homemade music
dancin' on daddy's shoes
Oh, dancin' on daddy's shoes

Lyrical Miracles Special Edition

This is a special edition of Lyrical Miracles.
Rule #1: Choose a well known, secular tune. (this could be a nursery rhyme, musical number, easy listening, classic rock, etc. - just make sure it is a song everyone is familiar with)Rule #2: Write the lyrics based on Calvinistic Cartoons (try to include several aspects of this blog - like songs, cartoons, specific characters, contests, etc.)
Rule #3: Think of this as a TV or radio advertisement. I intend on using the winner's lyrics as part of a promotional ad for Calvinistic Cartoons. I will print hundreds up and drop them off at Dallas Theological Seminary and Criswell College here in Dallas, Texas.

Lyrical Miracle Contest # 8
"Image" by John Lennon.
Even though I hated the lyrics, I always thought the music was beautiful.
Now it is your time to write it the way it should be written!
The chosen one will be announced on Thursday, April 30th.
So take your theological vitamins and start writing!

The Hip Hop That Won't Stop

You may or may not care for hip hop.
But all you Calvinists out there will eat up
the lyrics of this talented musician
(he is a 5-Pointer)
and he lays down some Sovereign Grace doctrine
everywhere he goes.
(He even has a rappin' bio of Spurgeon!)
read some of his tunes and see what I mean:
http://lyricaltheology.blogspot.com/

I also did a "Hip Hop" gospel tract for
Good News Publishers a few years ago.
You can read every page of it here:

Lyrical Miracle Contest #6

In this contest you need to come up with words to match the tune,
"Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles.
If you don't know the tune, I'm sure William Shatner
or Bishop Fulton Sheen recorded it at sometime...
The chosen one will be announced on Thursday, March 19th.
So put on your theological hats and start writing!
In case of a tie, the winner will be chosen by rock, paper, scissors.

Okay gang, I'm going to make it an easy one this time.
And you get a choice of 3 tunes to choose from:
Baa Baa Black Sheep,
the Alphabet Song,
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Just have a theological view on something, keep it clean, shake hands and come out fighting! (fighting in the sense of spiritual warfare).
The winner of this match will be announced on Monday, February 16

Lyrical Miracle Contest #3
I need to post these separate from the winner spot. . . so this time,
Just think Jed Clampett and Biblical theology and you might get inspired.
(you can place your song at either location - I check both before I put in the transmission fluid)
