Off the Beaten Path

Just wanted to share a few favorites in hope of you sharing a few of yours.
One of my favorite places in the world is Dubai. I've been there a dozen times already and always find it totally fascinating. An amazing city with lots to offer.
This CD I downloaded on my iPod and have listened to it for years. I have never tired of it because every song is so different from the next. A really nice mix with a sci-fi theme about Christians in the future. Check it out when you get an opportunity.
As far as books go (and they go far) this one is a fun read!
"Following Jesus' example of using story to communicate truth, Mark Shaw offers an introduction to Christian doctrine which draws on classic narratives to shed light on the Trinity, the attributes of God, . creation, providence, sin, redemption, and more."

So what are some of your favorite places, CD's and books?

Real Records You May Have Missed #39

All it takes is one long extension cord and a bushel of birds that are not afraid of the blast of a huge pipe organ to pull this off.

Real Records You May Have Missed #38

Paul "Tex" Yearout talks to the NOW generation about the STEREO generation! I have heard about the NOW generation but had no idea that there was a STEREO generation...hmmm, guess Tex prevented it from spreading any further. I wonder how this would sound today. His next album should have been entitled, "Three Strikes and Yearout". Anyone out there who used to be part of the Stereo generation? My copy of this album is in mono.

Name That CD

Here is the cover of the mystery CD without the title or the singer's name.
Beneath that, are the lyrics to a song from that album.
Who is the artist and what is the name of the CD?
The answer may surprise you.

Down a dangerous road, I have come to where I'm standing
With a heavy heart, and my hat clutched in my hand
Such a foolish fool, God ain't known no greater sinner
I have come in search of Jesus, hoping he will understand

I had a woman once, she was kind and she was gentle
Had a child by me, who grew up to be a man
I had a steady job, til I started into drinking
And I started making music that went with the devil's band

Oh the years flew by like a mighty rush of eagles
My dreams and plans were all scattered in the wind
It's a lonesome life, when you lose the ones you live for
If I make my peace with Jesus will they take me back again

If I give my soul, will he cleanse these clothes I'm wearin'
If I give my soul, will he put new boots on my feet
If I bow my head and beg God for his forgiveness
Will he breathe new breath inside me and give back my dignity

If I give my soul, will he stop my hands from shaking
If I give my soul, will my son love me again
If I give my soul, and she knows I really mean it
If I give my soul to Jesus will she take me back again

If I give my soul to Jesus will she take me back again

The Only Catholic "Priest" I Enjoy LIstening To

You can download the entire album here!
This site has many other albums you can download as well.
Most are children's records.
I haven't heard or downloaded this myself,
and based on his routines, I assume there is
no bad language recorded.

And All That Jazz

On a good note, the Baptists who made this album repented a week after it's release. Their follow-up album will be out in July. They promised to tithe their profits...if they don't backslide again.
